about

a church of house churches

ONE CHURCH OF MANY HOUSE CHURCHES, CONNECTED UNDER ONE COMMON ELDERSHIP, CONSISTING OF DISTRIBUTED PASTORAL LEADERSHIP, DIVERSE DISCIPLESHIP COMMUNITIES, AND IS DECENTRALIZED FROM PRIMARY PLACE & PASTOR.

Diverse discipleship communities

The early church reflected the full spectrum of their local community — diverse generationally, socio-economically, culturally, ethnically, and in spiritual maturity. Not sorted by age or stage of life, but woven together in a family-like community. People pouring into each other, learning from each other, and growing because of each other. That's the picture we keep coming back to, and it's the kind of community we're convinced the church is still meant to be.

Distributed Pastoral leadership

In the early church, pastors weren't separated or elevated figures. They were identified from within the community and established where people lived, so that every person could be genuinely known and cared for. Every house church is led by a called and qualified pastor from within the community, which means you have someone who knows you, cares for you, and is there when life gets hard.

Decentralized from primary place and pastor

The early church didn't revolve around a single place and a few prominent people. It spread through everyday people living out their faith in the communities where they already lived. The life of our church isn't concentrated in one location or dependent on one leader. It's distributed across every home, every neighborhood, and every person who calls Blacksburg Church home.

We are returning to three simple new testament practices

Sunday Gatherings

We gather to worship Jesus as one church, in one place, under one roof, every Sunday. These gatherings include sermons from the Bible, singing, sharing stories, silence, and scripture readings.

house church

We meet in House Churches weekly where every person can be personally known and pastored. House Church is designed around a meal, Scripture, prayer, relationships, and real-life discipleship.

ministry partnerships

We partner with ministries locally and globally that are meeting real needs in the name of Jesus. Instead of starting our own, we seek to strengthen existing ones through prayer, generosity, and participation.
